Topic: The Wardrops
Class Profile : Group of students of 11 graders
Level : Intermediate
Time: 60 minutes
Main Aims :
Ø  at the end of the lesson students will be able to speak about the topic, Georgian_British relations beginning, particular historical facts,
Ø  Will be able to use a range of language
Ø  Will be able to use information to create a presentation
Ø  Will be able to share share experience relating to the topic

Subsidiary Aims :
Ø  will be able to read informative texts,
Ø  Will develop role-play
Ø  Will be able to ‘bring’ history into the classroom
Skills: extensive reading, intensive reading, practicing a range of language;surfing the internet in English, using self-access facilities, developing confidence,role-play,speaking, pronunciation, listening, ,writing, non-linguistic aspects (social skills)
Assumed knowledge: The class have studied the Wordrop’s lives and works, their relations with Georgia, their translations of some Georgian literature pieces
Pre-task : stimulating students’ interest in topic and activate useful language. Students worked as a group. Teacher prepared the students a little for the task by discussing with them    of information they might include
Procedure:
Stage 1 :Lead-in: teacher makes a brief introduction of the topic. Speaks about its importance,the reason for the choice (3-minutes)
Stage 2 : Students make presentation ‘the wardrops_roots of Georgian_British relations”(35-40 minutes)
1.general biography of Oliver and Marjory Wardrop
2 Reading extracts from Wardrop’s :”The kingdom of Georgia”
3 Friendship with Ilia Chavchavadze, their correspondence
4 Reciting wardrop’s translation of “Hermit”, “Bazaleti lake”, “Elegia”,”Spring”
5 Reading extracts from “The night in the panther’s skin” (In Georgian/English)
Used technique: task (project) based learning
Stage 3:  Discussion: teacher asks student questions (analyzing, discussing some interesting issues)
Eliciting answers (5_7)
Stage 4 : Language practice (10-15 minutes)
